Beneath the surface:Seemingly devoid of his own will, Leon can put on the song and dance of amiability with no weight behind it. He is friendly and will take pains to keep up appearances, though he takes the same pains to remain at arm's length from others. This includes lying, something he does chronically and often over things that are inconsequential.The only things he really seems to enjoy are woodworking and music, carrying both a bow and lute of his own make. Often driven to poetry, storytelling, or singing, he will extrapolate grandiose stories from the mundane, putting words to song if his lute is in hand.
The Formation:Born as the third son of four from loving parents, the Kleiber family lived in a small settlement in the Fringes.
Upon the Garlean invasion of Leon's hometown, his father and elder brothers were slain.
Leon was conscripted in exchange for his mother's and youngest brother's life at the age of fourteen.Leon learned to train his hunting bow against steel and use his gift of song to embolden men in battle in the Garlean army.
A gentle boy honed into a killing machine attracted the attention of a high-ranking officer, ██████ quo Fronius, who was enraptured by the lad and kept him by his side, training him in the art of espionage.
To deal daggers in the dark, to slay one's countrymen; all taught to Leon in the hopes that he would help Officer Fronius become a legatus one day, a perfect blade against his enemies.Naturally, Fronius was assassinated. With nowhere else to run, Leon narrowly escaped to the Black Shroud to eke out a living off the land. He refused to rejoin society for years, unwelcomed by his countrymen for his traitorous ways.
Should you get to know him better, Leon's backstory does contain content that could be considered triggering to some.
While I do not dwell on the subject matters when they come up and try to treat them with the gravity that they are due, please do keep these in mind if looking for something longer term.
Subject matter includes mentions of suicide, war, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual assault, and abusive relationships with power imbalances and large age gaps.
